Veneers are very thin porcelain or resin shells that cover the existing tooth structure to provide patients with a more beautiful and healthy smile. In placing veneers on your teeth, you are able to prevent and fix common issues like staining, cracked teeth, gapping, misaligned teeth, chipped teeth, and much more.
Types of Veneers
There are two main types of veneers that we offer at Lakeside Dental: porcelain veneers and resin composite veneers.
- Porcelain Veneers. These veneers have a thin porcelain shell that is custom-fitted to each tooth that is Porcelain veneers are strong, long-lasting, and stain-resistant, making them a popular choice among our patients.
- Resin Composite Veneers. These veneers are made from a natural-looking filling material that is bonded to the tooth being covered. Resin composite veneers are typically more cost-effective, making them perfect for patients on a budget. While they may not be as strong as porcelain veneers, they are more easily able to be replaced when damaged.
If you’re unsure which type of veneer is best for you, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with one of our dental professionals. They’ll be happy to go over each option with you and develop a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your healthiest and most aesthetic smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneer placement may take up to three dental visits to complete. In the first visit, we will discuss the new shape and look of your teeth, mouth, and smile by placing the veneers. Once we have developed a treatment plan, we will carefully prepare the teeth for the placement of the veneers.
As we complete this part of the process, we will take an impression of your mouth. This impression will be sent to our laboratory for the veneers to be created. We only utilize the highest standard laboratory for the fabrication of all of our dental materials. Creating your custom veneers at the laboratory may take between 10 and 14 days. While the new veneers are being made at the lab, we will provide you with a beautiful temporary solution to wear.
As the veneers are finalized, we will make every effort possible to ensure that your new veneers feel just like your natural teeth. At your final visit, we will bond your veneers into place, securing your new smile for the long term.
Will Insurance Cover the Cost of My Veneers?
The cost of your veneers will depend on your dental insurance coverage and the extent of treatment recommended to provide you with your desired results. The best way to find how much coverage will be provided for your veneers is to contact your insurance provider and request more information.
